As a child, Vivien lived and breathed ballet, eagerly heading to ballet class and immersing herself in ballet books and videos. This avid passion has matured into a deep appreciation of ballet as an art form and a desire to impart her love for it to the next generation of dancers.
She has received solid ballet grounding under the guidance of her teachers in Joo Chiat CC, Singapore Ballet Academy (SBA) and Goh Ballet Academy (Canada); and has achieved up to the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Advanced 2 standard. Other training opportunities that have advanced her ballet and contemporary dance technique include the T.H.E Second Company Training Initiative, SBA Senior Youth Performing Group programme, Singapore Dance Theatre’s Ballet Associates Course (SDT-BAC), and classes in SDT’s Scholars Programme. She also enjoys other dance forms, including contemporary dance, tap dancing, gymnastics and hip hop. This rich and varied dance experience informs her teaching methods to provide her students with the best of everything. To her, dancing can be approached from two complementary perspectives: an athletic endeavour guided by sound sports principles, and most of all, a form of creative expression for the artist in every person.
