Teacher Wan Yu

Lee Wan Yu began her dance training at the age of 5 in Ballet with Sylvia McCully, a respected Singapore dance pioneer. She is a graduate of SUNY Purchase’s Conservatory of Dance Bachelor of Fine Arts’ programme and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts’ (NAFA) Diploma in Dance programme. During her studies, she trained rigorously in Ballet, Modern and Contemporary Dance, while picking up other genres of dance during her free time.

She has had the opportunity to perform internationally as a pre-professional at the World Dance Alliance Asia-Pacific Conference in South Korea, and as a professional dancer in Hong Kong Disneyland and at the Movement Research Gala in New York. In addition to performing, she had the opportunity to present her work, titled “Her Voice”, in “The Next Generation” as a part of Singapore’s da:ns Festival 2017.

Upon returning to Singapore in 2018, Wan Yu has been teaching Ballet to children aged 3 and above, as well as adults. Additionally, she has choreographed solos for competitions such as the CSTD Asia Pacific Dance Competition and the Singapore International Dance Challenge. She continues to perform and choreograph on a freelance basis.

Wan Yu believes in nurturing passion and imparting positive values through dance, and hopes that her students will grow into both better artists and people.
